Pinterest Offers “Buyable Pins” [A Look At How It Works]

That’s right, your wishes have been granted. You can now buy things directly from Pinterest!

As a customer, this makes things so much easier. Every pin accompanied by a blue price tag is available for purchase. You can even see color availability directly on the app! Once you decide to buy something, just click the buy button and pay with Apple Pay or your credit card. After you enter your personal information it will be saved in the app for your next purchase!

As for security, Pinterest is working with experienced payment processors to keep your credit card information private.

You will be able to purchase items from your favorite retailers such as Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and several Demandware and Shopify stores! Being a 5 billion dollar social media platform, Pinterest allows users to save, share, and comment on your products and ideas. Pinterest has also been found to be the second largest source of traffic to Shopify and, on average, pinners spend about $50 per order. Another thing – Pinterest doesn’t take a cut from your sales and you can handle shipping and customer service as you always have.

For Shopify users specifically, it is very easy to start using this new feature. Simply log into your account, add the Pinterest channel and enable Buyable Pins from there. As for Demandware users, you will need to contact your Demandware success manager to learn more about your prospects.

All others who are interested in Buyable pins can sign up for a waitlist for future updates and opportunities. As of right now this feature is only available in the US; for iPhone/iPad users, the update will be available within weeks. Android or desktop users will see the upgrade in future releases.
